I always get thunder and lightning mixed up. I’ll ask, “Wow, did you hear that lightning?” and then get corrected that thunder is the sound that lightning makes. But why? There’s no other object or phenomenon that has different words for the visual and the audio. It would be like if you saw me, my name is Tim. But if you only hear me my name is Fred.
